A Note From Our Chair

When I was sixteen, I was fired from my serving job for a no-call, no-show. Where was I? In the hospital, a result of having attempted to take my own life. The next ten years of my life were spent struggling to find happiness between the drinking, drugs, and many restaurant gigs.

And then, an Uber driver handed me a business card at 3 AM on my way home from a closing shift. It was the business card of Serving Those Serving.

It has been a long and winding road that has led me to be the Chair of the Serving Those Serving’s Board of Directors. I am so honored that I can have a hand in serving a community that knows my struggles, that has felt my pain. STS continues to serve this community through individually tailored services, and advocacy to end the stigma of mental health and give those in the service industry a fighting chance. To anyone out there that’s going through a hard time, never let your brain convince you that you are not worthy of happiness. Know that you are not alone. Keep fighting. Serving Those Serving will be there to fight alongside you.
